Because I'm feeling slightly overwhelmed by my WIPs [you may have noticed that I have finished only three very small projects that were almost complete!!], I thought I would take a moment to look at some quilts I have finished - just to make me feel better, you know?
So I whipped around the house, pulling quilts off the ends of beds and from chairs to do a bit of a photo shoot. These quilts go back quite a few years to when I knew nothing about rotary cutters, self-healing mats and patchwork rulers and would sit cross-legged on the floor, watching telly and just pick up a piece of fabric and cut out a bit of a square!! Now I've got the tools and have come over all precision-built.
I've had some of my quilts professionally quilted, but now I rather like to hand-quilt them, wonky stitches and all, which has slowed down the production of them to a near-standstill.
Sometimes it's nice to look back on what you've achieved rather than the mightier task of what you've set out to achieve ... would you agree?
Cheers, Trudy
That is one fabulous stack of quilts you have there.....you are such a clever little vegemite!
ReplyDeleteoooh yes I do agree! Tis a lovely stack of quilts - you might enjoy popping over to wisecraft - if you haven't already - and read her post today about walking about the house and seeing handcrafted in every room. You must be able to do this too - and it's such a lovely feeling isn't it :-) Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove your new look!

Don't forget all those other quilts that you have completed and given away as gifts...
ReplyDeleteI have to say, that i think your quilts are just so breathtaking,, they really are, i wish i had the patience like you to make a quilt but i would want it finished too quickly so then i would rush it and probably end up ruining it......so for now, i shall leave it to the professional to do, like yourself and just gaze upon them with longing.
