I just love, love, love the colour of the spines, especially sitting all together in a row.
I have my favourites. Favourite titles, favourite stories, favourite characters, favourite illustrations. Lucinda and Jane are adorable!
And even though my girls read Harry Potter, there is still room for Beatrix Potter. I think there is something nice about the size of the books in little hands, the snuggling potential to read together and of course the wild imaginings of these farm yard animals, "Yus, yus, yus!" as Aunt Pettitoes would say.
Thank you Miss Potter for your wonderful imagination, beautiful illustrations and for your adorable characters. I have such lovely memories of my Grandma reading these books to me as a child, and now more memories of reading them to my girls.
Did you read Peter Rabbit when you were little?
Do you have a favourite Beatrix Potter character?
Trudy
Oh Beatrix Potter is wonderful and your collection of books so special Trudy....they look great sitting there.
ReplyDeleteI never read her books when I was young and it wasn't until I had my baby that Beatrix Potter entered my life.......
I love Jemima Puddleduck and have a wonderful little egg cup with her and some Foxgloves on it.........and Peter Rabbit is a favourite too.
I loved the movie that came out a few years ago about her life.......
Enjoy those snuggles and story times...

No I haven't read them but I always wanted your collection!.. I do cherish the memories of reading to my boys and falling asleep while doing so (as most of us have) and have kept all of their books.
ReplyDelete:) Denise.
You remember my little books? How cool is that?!!!
DeleteThey are beautiful little books, I remember them vividly! :)
ReplyDeleteWow the next generation of books along were not as pretty as these...I too bought them for my daughter and she is now able to share with her daughters...Have you done any needle work Beatrix Potter inspired...
ReplyDeleteNo, I've never done anything Beatrix Potter inspired, but how cute would that be?!!
Deletemaybe a couple, certainly not such a collection. The earliest books I can really remember are the famous 5 and the secret 7! Not quite the same level of sweetness I know, but I loved them! Have a good week Heather x
ReplyDeleteoh - is there anything prettier than the spines of lovely books all lined up. It's the loveliest art in our house. We have the little books too - perfectly made for wee hands to hold. And we have some in French as well from when Abby was learning French at school. My favourite character is Miss Tittlemouse - I can relate to all that cleaning. Our favourite when Abby and I were reading them were the two bad mice - oh they were so funny. Have you seen the ballet - it's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely post about the wonderful Beatrix Potter.....I have always loved her books too :) We visited her home in the Lake District earlier this year (it's not too far from where we live) and you can still see 'Peter' rabbits hopping about nearby!
ReplyDeleteLove your pretty set of books with the different coloured spines.
So nice to find your blog btw, thanks for popping over to mine recently :)

Oh Trudy, those books are divine! I LOVE books.. and Beatrix Potter, you can't go wrong! I always tell my kids that books are never a waste of money, they can have them whenever they want! I still have a lot of my Dr. Suess books from when I was little.
ReplyDeleteYou know, it's not so much the stories I remember so much as the merchandise! I vividly remember china Peter Rabbit egg cups and bowls and mugs that my sisters and I used as children. x
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful heir loom Trudy, and they all look like they have been cherished and cared for.....what a great thing to pass onto your girls.......and yes' i love the colour of the books too, lovely and vintagey.
ReplyDeletehugs Pixie xx
My son loves Beatrix Potter and they are the first books that he read all by himself. He was so proud. A neighbour gave us a beautiful hard back collection of stories that her Grandkids didn't want but my kids were delighted with it. As for me, I have a Hans Christian Anderson book with all the stories in it and I loved it as a child. I still have it now but it is really old and so it only comes out on special occasions.
ReplyDeleteI only owned one Beatrix Potter, so I guess Mrs Tittlemouse has to be my favourite.
ReplyDeleteOh yes i remember the books so well, mine and the set my girls had too. However, like many books, when you know the area well where they are based it helps a lot in connecting with them. I think I first climbed Cat Bells in the lake District when I was about 6, where Mrs Tiggy Winkle lived. My parents live just down the road! My favourite was either Peter Rabbit or the Two Bad Mice.....I can't decide!
ReplyDeleteFiona
We had a full set too, but although they were read to me too the books had been given to my sister and so are with her ... I often wish they had been mine. I loved Mrs Tiggywinkle best :D
