I know, I know, it's August!! My Bullseye Afghan* is finished and I want to show you, I need to show you, I'm itching to show you. I started this blanket just before Christmas and it has taken me seven months to crochet. You just can't rush some things!
Here is a photographic journey beginning with one circle, which slowly increased to twenty-five circles, to then playing with the placement of the circles, and to turning the circles into squares, and then the beginnings of sewing them together. Phew, I'm pooped just thinking about the process.
End project. Ready for use. Still cold here. Perfect timing.
So glad I just raced outside to take these photos when I did, when there was a little bit of blue sky, as it's now raining cats and dogs! Enjoy your week.

Impressive Trudy and very original. I love that you have done a dark colour to make up each square this brings out the colours and shape of the circles more. Gives the whole afghan dimension. Re: feedback...if it were me I'd be doing a border too which will stop the corners curling up throughout use and also frame this wonderful afghan. Hard work has paid off!!!
ReplyDeletekeep well
Amanda :-)
Looks fantastic Trudy, perfect for today, sooooo cold and windy here! The borders I put on my blankets are pretty plain, just a couple of rows of tr usually, because I am always ready to move onto something new by that stage. Might have to put this pattern on the to do list! Have a great day and stay warm! Julie :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks fantastic trudy. Love the contempory look it has. When it comes to doing a border, I think live with it for a couple of weeks and see if it bugs you that it dosen't have one. If it dosen't play on your mind, then move on to the next project.
ReplyDeleteJust brilliant, gosh what a lot of work has gone into it. Will be great snuggling up in it this winter! Ada :)
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing Trud.....fabulous, great colors and great design. Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful! I would definately add a border to finish it off - you've come this far, you may as well x
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing x
Yes - I think a border always finishes things off neatly. Could be the same as the background colour, or with a stripe or two of the other colours in...
ReplyDeleteForgot to say that it's a lovely blanket - border or not!
ReplyDeleteOh WOW, i am really excited about this blanket,,its so GREEEEAT, i love everything about it, i would love to have ago at one of these myself, yes' yes', this is undoubtably a great blanket...and just so differant from any i have ever seen anywhere else......brilliant....and as for borders,,well; i quite like a little border here or there, it gives it a finish...even if its just another row of single crochet. But thats just my thing,, you go with whatever feels right,, its gonna look brilliant whatever you choose. xx
ReplyDeleteTrudy - what a lovely blanket and well worth the work. The dark colour works fantastically. Like your other comments I probably would go for a border, though it still looks great without.
ReplyDeleteLooks fabulous. On balance I think a border would just finish it off nicely.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Trudy, that blanket is amazing!! No wonder it took 7 months, you can tell that a lot of time and love went into it. It reminds me of the Kandinsky circles painting. Personally, I would add a border in a different shade, but it's stunning as it is. x
ReplyDeleteThanks so much peeps for all your fabulous comments! Seems to be the concensus that a border will just finish it off, so I've decided to add a bit of RED!!! There might have to be an update to the post when a couple of rows have been added. Hope you all enjoy some hooky time too!! : -)
ReplyDeletePersonally I always like a border but your blanket is gorgeous just as is. Just make sure the border doesn't take away from the prettiness of the blanket. Hmmm, just read your comment. Definitely RED!!! I L-O-V-E RED. : )
ReplyDeletewhat an awesome blanket! I think some zingy bright colours on a border would be great, maybe some orange? Heather
ReplyDeletelol at "happily hook" while girls are at their lessons. :-)
ReplyDeleteBut jokes aside, it is a lovely rug - obviously a lot of work went into it. Trudy I love your use of colour - always so pretty and tasteful.

Love the bullseye Afghan its exactly the thing I've been wanting to do and in almost similar colourway. Fabulous. I also use the same bag to carry around my crochet projects - go figure!
