I love her jewel-sea,

Dorothea MacKellar, born in 1885, was one of Australia's best loved poets.
She wrote the above poem 'My Country' at the age of 19, while homesick in England.
Happy Australia Day!
Who would've thought a bout of homesickness would inspire a poem that would still be read and loved over a century later.......enjoy the day Trudy....

Lovely combination of photos and poetry. I would so love to be somewhere sunburned, as it is blooming freezing here.

ReplyDeleteHappy Australia day to you Trudy. What a great antidote to all the pictures of snow! I haven't been to see your country yet, but I think I would like it. I imagine friendly smiling people with a laid back attitude and lots of sun! Heather x
